Thursday 25th March Grant Leboff Addresses MBC Networking

Ramada Jarvis Hotel Watford – What The Sex Pistols Can Teach You About Marketing.

In order to address the massive changes that have rendered the traditional Sales and Marketing model obsolete, Grant Leboff formalised his own Sales and Marketing philosophy; Sales Therapy®.

It was these ideas and principles that helped Leboff build his own successful telemarketing company. After starting the business in 2002 Leboff sold out earlier this year.

Leboff is Principal of The Intelligent Sales Club Ltd which concentrates on putting together effective Sales and Marketing strategies, mentoring Owners and Directors in their Sales and Marketing and providing Sales and

Marketing training. The ethos of the Company is finding cost effective ways of encouraging customers to approach you, thus creating a solid Sales Pipeline.

Leboff spends a significant amount of time giving talks about Sales and Marketing for a variety of business groups. He is a regular contributor to many business magazines and newspapers and has been featured in the Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Daily Mirror and has appeared on BBC Radio.

His first book, Sales Therapy®, was in the top 10 Amazon bestseller list when it was published in October last year and was one of the top selling books on Sales in the UK 2007. It has now been published worldwide.

What The Sex Pistols Can Teach You About Marketing

Compare the old transactional sales and marketing model with a car which has a worn out engine and is continually breaking down.

Every few miles, you spend even more money on a quick fix so you can drive it a little longer. Really, you know that throwing money at it is a waste of time. However, without the wherewithal to replace it, you are unsure of the alternative.

The equivalent of this is happening in sales and marketing. People spend time re-hashing and re-inventing the old transactional models in order to try and squeeze out a few extra sales. All the while, people have instinctively understood that it is no longer effective

To be successful in today’s business climate demands a completely fresh approach.

This speech will provide attendees with new ideas and a different perspective which will generate opportunities into their business and increase sales.

In order to address the massive changes that have rendered the traditional Sales and Marketing model obsolete, Grant Leboff formalised his own Sales and Marketing philosophy; Sales Therapy®.

It was these ideas and principles that helped Leboff build his own successful direct marketing company. After starting the business in 2002 Leboff sold it in 2008.

A serial entrepreneur; Leboff is Principal of The Intelligent Sales Club Ltd. The company was established to help businesses meet the new Sales and Marketing challenge they face, in a world that is being revolutionised by the Web.

To this end Leboff also runs the Sales and Marketing portal  www.intelligentsalesclub.com which produces resources and information on effective Sales and Marketing for business.

Leboff’s new book, ‘Sticky Marketing’ directly addressing these issues, will be published in the summer of 2010.

As well as sitting on the Advisory Council of The Global Marketing Network Leboff spends a significant amount of time giving talks on Sales and Marketing for a variety of business groups.

He is a regular contributor to many business magazines and newspapers, has been featured in the Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Financial Times, The Daily Mirror and The Sun, and has appeared on BBC Radio on numerous occasions. His first book, Sales Therapy®, made the top 10 Amazon bestseller list on publication and is one of the top selling books on Sales, in the UK. It is now available worldwide.

winningPhilip Cave CEO at Creative-i-Design is our competition winner.

MBC thanks Philip for his entry and we hope he will enjoy the benefits of  his new MBC membership.

The following comments were from Philip.

“How to make more money from the internet” should focus on using my site to generate income for my own business rather than trying to create new business ventures. There are endless seminars on selling marketing secrets via template web sites, 99% of which never make a penny. Better to focus on what I know – my own business – and maximise its potential.

Make the session useful, relevant and specific. Topics could include:

BUILDING A NEW SITE
• What is the purpose of my site – to sell, market, communicate, campaign?
• The structure of an ideal website;
• What to expect from a web designer;
• Current and developing trends in web design;

CREATING THE RIGHT CONTENT
• The difference between paper brochures and interactive content;
• How my content can make a difference to my marketing;
• Effectively generating the right call to action;
• Creating an on-screen impact;
• Making the most of current technology to deliver a value-added service to my visitors;
• Interacting with visitors;
• eNewsletters;
• User forums;
• Online privacy issues;

EXTENDING THE SITE’S REACH
• Increasing visitor retention;
• Increasing visitor returns;
• Simple (and legal) steps to improve my positioning on search engines;
• Keeping my site fresh – how often should I update my site?
• Researching my site’s effectiveness;
• Extending my site without rebuilding the whole thing;

“I am going to help you grow your business in 2010″

Environmental Permits

Proposed Extension of Environmental Permits

green issues

 The Government has proposed an extension to the environmental permit regulations which came into force in 2007.

The proposed Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010 (EPP2) will extend the system of environmental permits in stages, to cover:

• Water discharge consents, groundwater authorisations and radioactive substances regulation
• water abstraction and impoundment, waste carriers and brokers, mining waste and batteries.

The proposals will allow businesses and environmental regulators to move towards a one permit, one regulator and one site regime. This will reduce costs and cut red tape while continuing to protect the environment.

EPP2 will affect businesses that:

• Discharge to rivers, lakes, estuaries, coastal waters
• discharge substances to groundwater
• use or dispose of radioactive substances or wastes.

If you currently hold a water discharge consent, groundwater authorisation or radioactive substances authorisation you will not have to re-apply. Your consent or authorisation will automatically become an environmental permit when the new regulations come into force. It is expected that the new regulations will come into force in Spring 2010.
